It is known that the history of bowling has not only decades and hundreds of years of life, but also whole millennia. However, there are not many places that have stored information about the first bowling alley and its evolution. However, there is a place where you can see how important this game is to many, how and where it is respected, how it is “worshiped” …
The homeland of the bowling museum is the USA, specifically the state of Missouri, the city of St. Louis. And this is despite the fact that the richest in bowling alley is the country of high technologies – Japan.
It is worth mentioning that in the USA the museum was created relatively recently – in 1984. This is explained only by the fact that for some time bowling was considered a game exclusively for the rich, and for some time it was simply banned. When it was recognized as a worthy game all over the world, the opening of the museum became the logical “conclusion” of that.
So, the bowling museum is a whole multi-storey building. Here you can see exhibits of ancient bowling, proving interest in this game, progressing for many centuries. And besides visual objects – ancient balls and pins, the museum presents the best literature, qualitatively telling about this game.
Interestingly, the museum staff not only presented the found bowling items to their visitors, but also literally reproduced the ancient bowling alley – despite its impressive size.
The museum also has a hall called Great Achievements. It shows and describes the most significant, according to historians and other specialists in the field of bowling knowledge, events. There are 12 of them. Among them, for example, one of the most “adult” bowlers, who at 55 and 56 years old won the All Stars tournament. Also, you’ll see bowler Earl Anthony make a million dollars from bowling in 1982. Marion Leidwig is the woman who has won the Women’s All-Star Tournament and other international competitions for more than 10 consecutive years.
The names and photos of the winners of the current days are also in the museum. Their awards are here too.
The intriguing and impressive thing about the museum is the bowling machine. Once, it was created by the owner of a bowling club for advertising purposes.
One of the most amazing things in the museum is the opportunity not only to observe, but also to play on the lowest floor of the building – bowling, which is more than 80 years old – a time when there was no automation yet …
