The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame (IBM / HF) announced last month that its annual lottery, which began in January and ended at the Bowl Expo in June, raised more on $ 20,000.

Tom Schemm, a former IBM / HF Board member of Schemm Bowling Inc., won the $ 5,000 cash prize, drawn at the end of Bowl Expo, and said he usually buys a raffle ticket or two from the badge he sells.

“I’ll put my wife’s name or my children’s names on it [the tickets I buy], ”Schemm said. “Her name was on tickets, but I don’t think she knew. ”

The Schemes returned half of the $ 5,000 prize to IBM / HF.

“The other half is going to Judy’s travel fund,” said Tom. “She really enjoys visiting with her grandmothers. ”

The rest of the lottery will support the IBM / HF.

“Judy and Tom Schemm have long been financial backers of IBM / HF,” said IBM / HF Board Secretary Lori Mraz. “Owners, business leaders and bowlers will all take part [in the raffle], and we expect next year to be even better. “

Bob Gudorf, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IBM / HF, said: “Archers like to gamble well, especially when it comes to a worthy cause. ”

The IBM / HF, which celebrates and preserves the history of bowling, is a non-profit museum funded by visitors, private donations and annual fundraisers. The annual raffle, an initiative that began 20 years ago, supports IBM / HF programs such as the Frame for Frame project to save rotting film stock.
